Navigation Basics
Understanding the Layout
Discord has a simple structure. Once you know the five key areas, you'll never feel lost. Here's a quick map of the interface:

Servers (Far Left)
Vertical icon column — your communities. The NBG logo lives here.

Channels (Left Panel)
The "rooms" inside our server — announcements, training, calling, and more.

Messages (Center)
The main content area where conversation and updates appear.

Message Box (Bottom)
Where you type and send your messages. Hit Enter to post.

Profile Controls (Bottom Left)
Mic, headphones, and settings — your personal control panel.

Navigation Basics
The Left Sidebar — Your Home Base
The far-left vertical column shows the servers (communities) you belong to. You'll see the NBG logo icon here — that's our main home.

💡 Lost? Click the NBG logo icon anytime to jump straight back to our workspace. It's like the front door to our office.
You may also see a + button to join other servers, but for now, NBG is all you need.

Channels — The Most Important Part
Channels are like rooms inside a building. Each one has a specific purpose. You don't need to use every channel — just click into the room you need.

What Happens Inside a Channel
When you click a channel name, the center of the screen fills with messages — updates, conversations, and resources posted by the team.

Messages appear in the center
Each message shows the sender's name, a timestamp, and the content. Scroll up to read older posts.

Your message box is at the bottom
Type your question or comment here and press Enter to send. It's that simple.

The Sales Channel — Your Live Sales Feed
The #sales channel is your real-time sales announcement feed. Every time a policy is submitted, it's automatically posted here — powered by our Telegram integration. Think of it as a live scoreboard celebrating every win across the team.

🏆 What you'll see: Each sale alert includes the agent's Full Name, Carrier, Product, Annual Premium, and Agency. When you see a 🎉 NEW SALE ALERT — that's a teammate closing business in real time.
This channel is read-only — the posts are generated automatically from our Telegram sales bot. You don't need to post here, just watch the wins roll in and let it fuel your motivation.
To find it, look for the #sales channel in the left sidebar — it's marked with a hashtag and easy to spot.

Live Sessions
Joining Live Voice Sessions
In the Live Calling section, you'll notice channels with a speaker icon 🔊 instead of a hashtag. These are voice channels — live audio rooms.
Click one to instantly join, just like hopping on a conference call. When you're done, click Disconnect at the bottom of the screen.

🎧 Not ready to speak? No pressure. You can join a voice channel and just listen. Mute your mic using the microphone icon at the bottom left.

Understanding Your Role
Before you can access most channels, you'll need to be assigned a role. Roles determine where you fall within the National Brokers Group structure and control which channels you can see.

📋 Not sure which role fits? Here's a quick guide:
  • Agent — Licensed and actively producing
  • Agency Owner — Supervises agents and meets team production standards
  • Probee (PreLicense) — Currently studying, recently licensed, or within initial production phase
  • Curious George (Observer) — Observer access only
  • Growth & Leadership — Members who demonstrate consistency, professionalism, and engagement may be selected as moderators for specific channels.

How to Apply for Your Role
Getting your role is a one-time setup — quick and easy. Follow these three steps:
Go to #apply-for-role-access
Find the #apply-for-role-access channel in the left sidebar under 'NBG's info & policies.' Click it to open the application form.
Click "Apply for Role Here"
You'll see a message from Ticket Tool with the heading 'Applications for Roles.' Click the Apply for Role Here button at the bottom to open your ticket.
Fill Out Your Info
Reply with your Status (NBG Staff, Pre-License, Licensed Agent, Agency Owner, or Agency Staff), your Name, Upline, NPN (if licensed), and for Agency Owners — your Agency Name and # of Active Agents. Allow 24 hours for role assignment.
Once reviewed, you'll be assigned the appropriate role and gain access to your channels.

Settings & Tips
Managing Notifications
Feeling overwhelmed by pings? Don't panic. You have full control over what notifies you. Here's how to turn down the noise:
Right-Click
Right-click the NBG server icon on the left sidebar
Notification Settings
Select "Notification Settings" from the menu
@mentions Only
Choose "Only @mentions" so you're only pinged when tagged directly

Direct Messages & Your Profile Controls
Direct Messages
Click the Discord logo at the top left to access private messages. Think of these like personal text messages between you and another member.
Your Control Panel
At the bottom left, find your mic (🎤), headphones (🎧), and settings gear (⚙️). Red mic = muted. Use the gear to adjust audio or update your profile.
